Get Fit!
Instructor Bios
Kathleen Allen began instructing fitness classes while working on her Master's Degree at the University of Chicago in 1994. Pregnancy and the birth of her first child in 1995 ended her teaching but not her passion for fitness. Kathleen decided to "get back in shape" with a vengeance after pregnancy! When her first child was 2 and her second child was 6 months old, Kathleen ran her first marathon. Her fitness goals escalated and she competed in her first triathlon early in her fourth pregnancy. In 2006 she was chosen to represent the USA in the ITU World Championship Olympic Distance Triathlon in Lausanne, Switzerland and finished 13th in the world among 35-39 year old women. She made Team USA again in 2007 and intended to compete in Hamburg, Germany but was unable due to injuries. Because she has been fit, healthy, pregnant, out of shape and injured at various times throughout her athletic career, Kathleen can relate to the struggles that many people have and loves to help motivate others to reach their own goals! Kathleen believes that a fit, strong, healthy body is an amazing gift, and rehabilitation after her injuries has taught her that nothing is impossible. She would love to help you have fun while exercising and striving to be the best you can be!
In September 2009, Kathleen competed in the World Triathlon Event in Brisbane, Australia. Kathleen placed 6th in the world in her age group, and was declared the fastest US Athlete over age 33! Kathleen, we continue to be absolutely amazed by and so proud of you. Kathleen was profiled in The Denver Post by John Meyer in an article about the Boulder Peak Triathlon. Kathleen teaches spinning and a Power Pump class at Nick's, and provides overall good vibes as she conducts her own workouts at the Club. Congratulations to one of our most inspiring instructors.
